Ann Smith 1938 – 2013
Ann died on 20th September 2012 from Mesothelioma. She was a primary school teacher all of her working life and contracted this fatal cancer through exposure to asbestos fibres in the workplace.
This retrospective of her work was a celebration of her creative talent across a wide range of processes and media. The exhibition included stone carving, ceramics, basketry, paper sculptures and drawings created throughout her life. Photographs of her work taken by Ann were on sale each day.
All proceeds and donations totalling £1,200 were sent to Mesothelioma UK Charitable Trust.
